Biografie:: Mahershalalhashbaz "Mahershala" Ali (geboren Mahershalalhashbaz Gilmore, 16 februari 1974) is een Amerikaanse acteur. Ali begon zijn carrière als vaste gast in series als Crossing Jordan en Threat Matrix voordat hij doorbrak als Richard Tyler in de sciencefictionserie The 4400. Zijn eerste grote filmrelease was in de door David Fincher geregisseerde romantische fantasiedramafilm The 4400 uit 2008. Merkwaardig geval van Benjamin Button. Zijn andere opmerkelijke films zijn onder meer Predators en The Place Beyond the Pines. Hij speelde een belangrijke rol in Free State of Jones, dat zich afspeelt tijdens en na de Amerikaanse Burgeroorlog. Ali is vooral bekend van zijn recente rollen als Remy Danton in House of Cards, Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes in de Netflix-tv-serie Luke Cage, Juan in Moonlight en Boggs in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 en het vervolg, The Hunger Games : Spotgaai – Deel 2.
